On 16th July 2026, Manzil Pakistan hosted a high-level stakeholder mapping policy meeting on the development of a comprehensive Transshipment Policy and the promotion of Pakistan's transshipment industry. The meeting brought together representatives from industry stakeholders, trade experts, logistics professionals, and research fraternity to discuss existing regulatory and operational challenges affecting Pakistan's potential as a regional transshipment hub.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Manzoor Hussain Memon (Head of Research, Manzil Pakistan), Capt. Rtd. Zaheer Ibrahim (Secretary, All Pakistan Shipping Association), Dr. Iffat Ara (Senior Economist, SPDC), Mr. Muhammad Sabir (Senior Economist, SPDC), Dr. Amir Siddiqui (Research Economist, AERC), Mr. Abid Aziz (General Manager Operations, Pakistan Intermodal Limited), Mr. Syed Tanveer Ahmed (Former member of Customs FBR, Islamabad) and Mr. Adeel Kadri (Senior Researcher, Manzil Pakistan).
Participants exchanged views on international best practices, identified policy gaps, and explored measures to improve multimodal connectivity, customs facilitation, port efficiency, and regional trade integration. The consultation helped build consensus on key policy priorities, strengthened collaboration among stakeholders, and generated practical recommendations to support the formulation of a modern, competitive, and investment-friendly transshipment policy framework for Pakistan. The outcomes of the meeting are expected to contribute towards enhancing Pakistan's role in regional logistics networks and facilitating greater transshipment connectivity within Pakistan.
