Dr. Manzoor Hussain Memon has over 18 years of work experience in social and corporate sector spanning in key socio-economic areas. His work has been published in internationally recognized journals and papers. Dr. Memon is an active Think Tank member on Trade Reforms constituted by The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI). His name is included in the Database of Leading Professional Advisory established by Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP). Besides, he is also life time member (since 2008) of Pakistan Society of Development Economics (PSDE), the only Pakistani professional association of economists managed by Pakistan Institute of Development Economics (PIDE).
Prior to his current full time association with Manzil Pakistan as Head of Research, Dr. Memon has worked on several research projects for international donor agencies such as the World Bank (WB), Asian Development Bank (ADB), United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and other United Nation (UN) Agencies. He was part of a team on ‘Towards a Vision 2030: Direction of Industrial Development in Pakistan’ for JICA besides contributing in a preparatory study on JICA Cooperation Program for Industry Development (Investment Climate Improvement in Karachi).
Dr. Memon was previously associated with the sub-sovereign rating assignment of the Government of Punjab – the first to be undertaken in Pakistan and the South-Asian region. Additionally, he also successfully completed the first international sovereign rating of Turkey, and the Kingdom of Bahrain with Islamic International Rating Agency (IIRA).
Dr. Memon’s work and publication mainly covers the key issues of trade competitiveness, economic diversification, technology innovation and human development aspects such as social development, poverty, and climate change etc. He is also attached with Academia as visiting faculty member. Some of them are Karachi School of Business Leadership (KSBL), NED University of Engineering and Technology (NEDUET), Karachi University Business School, University of Karachi (KUBS, UoK), and many more.
Academically, Dr. Memon has acquired Doctoral degree of Philosophy in Economics Discipline (Applied Economics) from Applied Economics Research Centre (AERC), University of Karachi under the kind supervision of Prof. Dr. Samina Khalil, Director, AERC.
